Meet the Teachers
After years of working at a desk as a CPA left me with chronic back pain, I sought relief through Pilates. My first private lesson was in 2004, and I immediately loved how it made me feel. Through consistent practice with a highly-trained teacher, my back pain diminished and my strength and flexibility increased. Over time, I progressed to more advanced exercises and my body and mind were truly transformed.
My passion for the Pilates method led me to pursue teaching so I could share its unique results and benefits with others. In August 2011 - after 950+ hours of training and apprenticing - I completed the Advanced Teacher Training program at The Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado. I am certified through the National Pilates Certification Program.
My personal Pilates practice is an ongoing, lifelong journey. My favorite exercise is Rollup from the mat because I can do it practically anywhere and it feels amazing. I will always be a student of this incredible method!
I am very grateful to call Milwaukie home. When I am not teaching or practicing Pilates, I enjoy walking in our beautiful neighborhood, listening to podcasts, reading fiction, seeing live music and hanging out with my husband and two college kids.
I have always found joy in movement. Growing up, I loved to run, bike, swim and tumble. I played soccer, basketball and softball. I ran track, high jumped and did a lot of gymnastics until I landed at classical ballet. I was introduced to Pilates through the world of dance in 1998. My own practice healed a chronic back problem. It also helped forgo a major foot surgery. Pilates became my medicine for all sorts of aches and pains that have popped up over the years. It has developed into a kind of moving meditation for me, bringing balance to body, mind and spirit.
Inspired by my experience, I decided to pursue a career as a teacher. I completed a teacher training program in the classical Pilates method with Michele Larsson in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2004. I studied further at the renowned Pilates Center in Boulder, Colorado and graduated from the Advanced Teacher Training Program in 2006.
I have spent much of the last two decades teaching and spreading my enthusiasm for Pilates all over the world, including in London; Buenos Aires; El Puerto de Santa Maria, Spain and Paris. I moved to Portland in 2019 and I am so happy to be settled and putting down roots with my husband and daughter.
My Pilates teaching journey began in January 2025, when I enrolled in the Advanced Teacher Training Program at The Pilates Center in Boulder. I graduated in June 2026. The program ignited a deep appreciation for the richness, precision, and artistry of Joseph Pilates' original method, Contrology, and continues to inspire my study every day.
I am fascinated by the nuanced details of movement and believe that small refinements can create meaningful change. I enjoy helping clients move with greater strength, balance, confidence and ease through thoughtful, individualized instruction.
My own Pilates practice began in New Mexico in 2009 and continued at Milwaukie Pilates when the studio opened in 2022. For me, Pilates is far more than exercise - it is a lifelong practice and a passion.
I am committed to continuing my education, honoring the Classical method, and experiencing and sharing the remarkable physical, mental and emotional benefits of Joseph Pilates' work with every client I teach.
